The homestay student may live with a Canadian family that has similar interests to yours. What a great way to practice your English!

The Calgary Board of Education homestay program locates excellent host families in the City of Calgary. Our process for admitting host families into the Calgary Board of Education homestay program is a rigorous one.

All families:

  • have had a thorough interview to determine suitability;
  • have had a homestay inspection;
  • have had references checked;
  • passed a police record check;
  • are enthusiastic to receive international students

Once the student is placed in the home, supervision and support are provided by our Homestay Coordinator throughout the program.

International students and their parents have access to the Homestay Coordinator 24 hours a day in the event of a problem or emergency.

Please note, homestay placement can be arranged for students aged 15 years and older. International students must have a legal custodian in Calgary, regardless of their age.

If you would like us to arrange for homestay accommodation, please complete the Homestay Form and return it to us.
